ralph: ironically it's not even needed now
gordonfrohman: yeah, The International wasn't very good
stresstwig: i liked the scene where they set up the super sniper by showing him shooting a target in a large empty warehouse somewhere
stresstwig: and then he misses his target.
stresstwig: and then later on, while bleeding out, shoots five men perfectly in the head
niteowl: didn't have the budget for a reshoot?
stresstwig: no, i mean in the story he misses his actual assassination target
stresstwig: in the set up scene, which comes out of nowhere, he bullseye a target
stresstwig: and then the big intense climax scene is clive owen trying to record a conversation by being close enough to them, but they go underground and he's all like NOES MY LIFES WORKS
niteowl: maybe, while bleeding out and seeing his death before him like a crimson cold spectre of eternity, he realized that all his efforts at Being and Becoming and all his idealizations of what he was with regards to professionalism and assassin, everything that made up the pithy blocks of psyche and his not too unstable grip on the idea of Soul, were but windchimes quickly forgotten. And, during this brief moment of clarity, he let go enough from this world to actually have some goddamn sniper competency?
niteowl: or, maybe, i dunno, lazy screenwriter device?
