bigjimslade: she didn't understand about time zones, and also didn't really understand that just because it's part of North, Central, or South America does not make it a part of the US
Faux Real: my mother went to MIT for linguistics. To this day one of the smartest people i know. Has no head for geography. on my parents first date (they were 16) she let slip about how she always thought Korea was an island. this might say more about small town public school in South Carolina though.
Faux Real: any time my mom tries to correct us, we yell "Korea is an island" at her till she goes away.
