niteowl: well, the conservative sees himself as the Unassailable Super Human, the Hero, the One Who Conquers. And all through his own innate goodness. So many things are Sacred and Important. Think Lombardi speeches, except all the time, and totally serious. It's hard to make fun of yourself.
